Indiana runs one of the largest school choice programs in the country. The Choice Scholarship Program enrolled 76,067 students in 2024–25 – a record – and a 2023 law made nearly every Hoosier family eligible regardless of income or prior school history. Online high schools, both public and private, are a growing part of that Indiana digital learning landscape.
The options aren’t interchangeable. What your child enrolls in determines their high school diploma, which credits transfer, and what a college admissions office sees. Not recordings. Not office hours. Real teachers, live, every single school day.
Indiana has two tracks: public and private. Public schools (Indiana Connections Academy, Virtual Preparatory Academy) are tuition-free, state-regulated, follow Indiana standards. Private online schools operate independently – different accreditation bodies, different curricula, tuition-based but eligible for Indiana Choice Scholarship vouchers.
Private schools serving Indiana families include The Keystone School (MSA-CESS accredited, self-paced model), Citizens High School (non-regionally accredited, self-paced only), Laurel Springs School (WASC-accredited, mix of live and self-paced but semester-locked), and George Washington University Online High School (selective admissions, college-prep focus).
Public schools work if you’re Indiana-based and fit their calendar. Private schools drop the residency requirement, open enrollment year-round, and qualify for Choice Scholarship funds.
Legacy Online School is a WASC-accredited private K-12 online school – outside Indiana’s public virtual system entirely.

Indiana Choice Scholarship families can apply their voucher toward private school tuition – the average award in 2024–25 was $6,536. Keystone and Citizens run self-paced only – no live teaching. Laurel Springs offers live sessions but locks into semester blocks. GWU Online is selective and college-prep focused but doesn’t offer one-on-one instruction. We run three plans – self-paced, live group (15-learner cap), one-on-one – and families switch between them without re-enrolling.
Our K-12 program covers elementary through high school (9–12). Through our College Board affiliation (school code: 000114), we offer 19 AP courses:
AP Art History, AP Biology, AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP Computer Science A, AP Computer Science Principles, AP English Language and Composition, AP English Literature and Composition, AP Environmental Science, AP Human Geography, AP Macroeconomics, AP Microeconomics, AP Physics 1, AP Precalculus, AP Psychology, AP Spanish Language and Culture, AP Statistics, AP United States Government and Politics, AP United States History.
These are available to children on a full program – not standalone add-ons. Strong AP scores mean college credits before graduation – the kind of head start that matters for Indiana learners preparing for college at Indiana University, Purdue, Notre Dame, or beyond.
Middle school covers Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, plus electives including Computer Science, Digital Art, and Spanish. Elementary runs Art, Technology, and Physical Education – all with qualified teachers who give real feedback, and build thinking and problem-solving skills from the ground up.
Live Group
Live classes, max 15 pupils, 1:15 teacher ratio. Real interaction, school-day structure, no commute.
One-on-One
Individual lessons, fully customizable curriculum and schedule – suitable for pupils who need intensive support or can’t fit a group schedule.
Self-Paced
Children learn at their own pace – no fixed year, no synchronized schedule. Teachers still grade, answer questions, and give feedback. The timeline belongs to the child.
Part-time plans are available for families supplementing rather than switching. Virtual clubs come with every enrollment plan. See all the available options.
A Legacy diploma is not a GED equivalent. It’s a fully accredited high school diploma – accepted for college admissions, trade school applications, and military enlistment.
WASC accreditation travels further than Indiana state-level accreditation. Recent Legacy graduates have enrolled at Penn State, the University of New Haven (Cybersecurity – $30K merit scholarship), Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University ($5K scholarship), and the University of Maryland. For Hoosier families whose children might attend college outside Indiana, move between states, or apply internationally – that portability matters.
No enrollment window, residency check, or prior school required. Families choose a plan, confirm grade placement, and start.
