School Accreditation at Legacy Online School
Legacy Online School is accredited by WASC, registered with the Florida Department of Education, accredited by the Better Business Bureau, and listed with the College Board as a Level I-approved organization. Each one is independently verifiable – here's what each covers and how to check it yourself.
What Accredited Education at Legacy Includes
- Accredited K-12 online program: Kindergarten, Elementary, Middle, and High School
- Live Group and Self-Paced learning plans
- Social clubs and extracurricular activities
- College guidance and an advisory council for high schoolers
- US-accredited diploma and official transcripts
- Qualified teachers and a structured curriculum
- A dedicated Personal Learning Support Specialist (LSS) for every family
- IEP support within the online school
All of it sits inside the accreditation framework below. None of it is a separate tier.
WASC Accreditation
Legacy Online School is accredited by WASC, the regional accrediting agency recognized by the US Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Confirm our status in the WASC school registry, or view our official accreditation letter.
WASC accredits the school, evaluated periodically against its academic standards – it doesn't guarantee that any specific university will accept the diploma. Acceptance decisions are always made by the individual institution.
“Accreditation isn't a certificate we hang on a wall. It's the reason a transcript from Legacy holds up when a family moves from Dubai to Ohio.”
Registered with the Florida Department of Education
Legacy Online School is listed in the Florida Directory of Private Schools under Pinellas District, school code 9881. Florida does not license, approve, or accredit private schools – this listing confirms our registration under state reporting requirements. Our academic accreditation comes from ACS WASC, separately.
BBB Accredited
Legacy Online School holds Better Business Bureau accreditation. Confirm it on our BBB profile. This covers our business practices – communication, billing, complaint handling – independently of our academic accreditation.
College Board Level I Status
Legacy is listed with the College Board as a Level I-approved organization, school code 000114. Search the AP Course Ledger directly by school name or code, or go to our ledger entry. This status is what lets our AP courses carry the AP designation colleges recognize. It doesn't mean Legacy administers SAT or PSAT exams – students register independently at a local testing center.
What This Means for Your Family
An accredited diploma supports college admission prospects and credit transferability. It's not a guarantee of admission or credit acceptance at any specific institution – that decision belongs to each college.
One family relocating from Abu Dhabi to Florida used our transcript request page mid-semester. Credits transferred without a re-evaluation. Their daughter kept her AP track intact.
Request official transcripts anytime through our transcript request page. For what the diploma itself covers, see our accredited diploma page.
We are a US-accredited international online school that coexists with local schooling. Families are responsible for ensuring compliance with any local education requirements applicable to their situation.
