Anti-Bullying Policy
Many kids in the U.S. get bullied. About 1 out of 5 kids face bullying during the school year.
Bullying makes students feel sad and scared. Many kids stay home because they feel unsafe at school. Around 160,000 students decide not to go to school each day. Kids miss learning because they are afraid.
Cyberbullying happens in online schools too. Cyberbullying can make it hard for kids to enjoy their classes. About 16% of high school students have been bullied online in the past year.
Legacy Online School works hard to stop bullying. We want every student to feel safe and welcome. We will tell more about the measures our school takes to achieve this.
Our Anti-Bullying Policies
Our school has clear rules to stop bullying. Here is a simple look at what bullying means and how we deal with it.
What Is Bullying?
Bullying means being mean on purpose. Bullying happens when someone uses power to hurt another person. Bullying can happen once or many times.
Legacy Online School does not allow any kind of bullying. We give examples of different forms of bullying to better identify it:
- Verbal bullying uses hurtful words
- Written bullying happens in messages or posts
- Visual bullying uses pictures, videos, or actions
- Cyberbullying happens online in chats, forums, video calls, or any other digital place where students meet
How to Report Bullying?
We want students and parents to tell us when something feels wrong. Look at the information below to see how you can report bullying.

How Do We Help After Bullying?
Stopping bullying is not only about rules. Stopping bullying is also about care and healing. Legacy Online School supports all students who are part of a bullying situation in many ways:
- Students can meet with a school counselor. This helps when someone is being bullied. This also helps when someone hurts another student. A counselor can talk to students one-on-one. Sometimes students meet in small groups. These talks are private and safe
- Sometimes a trained adult helps two students talk. One student was hurt. The other caused harm. The adult helps them understand what happened. This can make things feel better and help both students move forward
- We teach students how to treat others with care. We show how to speak in a kind way. We help students learn how to stay calm when things feel hard
- We believe students can change. We help them fix the mistake, when someone makes it
What Happens When Bullying Is Reported?
Legacy Online School takes action every time someone reports bullying. We act fast and treat every student fairly. We want to stop bullying and help everyone learn from what happened. We use different steps depending on how serious the bullying is.
Step |
What Does It Mean? |
Warning and a talk |
A student hears clearly why the behavior was wrong. A staff member explains how it hurt others and reminds them of the school rules |
Parent contact |
We call or email the parents of both students. We talk about what happened. We work together to make sure the bullying stops |
Suspension |
The student stays out of class for some time if the bullying is strong or keeps happening |
Expulsion |
The student may leave the school for good if nothing helps or the case is very serious |
How Students and Parents Help Stop Bullying?
Legacy Online School cannot stop bullying alone. Every person in our school has a part to play. Students help by making kind choices. Parents help by staying involved. Teachers help by guiding and protecting students. Our school becomes a safe and welcoming place when each person does their part.
What Students Can Do?
Students help stop bullying when they act with care and respect. Every small action makes a big difference:
- Use kind and thoughtful words in messages
- Think before posting anything online
- Speak up when you see someone being hurt
- Tell an adult if something feels wrong or unfair
What Parents Can Do?
Parents help by staying connected to their child’s daily life. Paying attention to how a child feels or acts online can prevent problems before they grow:
- Ask what your child does during online classes and free time
- Talk often about their feelings and listen carefully
- Watch for signs like sadness, silence, or fear
- Reach out to the school if you have concerns or questions
What Our School Community Does?
Legacy Online School creates spaces where students feel like they belong. We bring people together through activities teaching kindness and care:
- We host events that help students learn about respect and empathy
- We offer fun projects that show how to be kind in real life
- We invite students to join clubs where they feel accepted and supported
- We create moments where students can see the good in others and in themselves
