Dubai’s expat community moves fast. Your child’s education stays steady — wherever life takes you next.

Abu Dhabi’s international school market is among the most competitive in the world. Waiting lists at popular schools frequently stretch beyond a single academic term. The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) regulates all private schools operating physical campuses – inspecting annually and publishing ratings that families use to compare options.
Legacy Online School operates outside that framework. WASC-accredited. No campus. Live teachers, every school day, through a digital platform.
Abu Dhabi offers British (Cambridge IGCSE/A-Levels), American (AP), IB, and Canadian curriculum schools – plus Indian curriculum options for CBSE and ICSE communities. The British curriculum is the most widely available. American curriculum schools are popular with US expat families and those targeting US university admissions.
What the traditional school market in Abu Dhabi shares: a fixed campus, a fixed academic calendar, fees that reflect physical infrastructure, and waiting lists that don’t accommodate families arriving mid-year.
Legacy Online School serves Abu Dhabi families who need something different and inclusive – US curriculum, WASC accreditation, flexibility to start any time of year, and no geographic restriction within or beyond the UAE.
Our K–12 program runs on a FLVS-based US-accredited curriculum. Every grade from Kindergarten through Grade 12 in one continuous program.
Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Spanish, Art, Technology, Physical Education. Self-Paced plans start at $670/semester.
Core subjects plus electives including Computer Science Discoveries, Digital Art and Design, Journalism, and Spanish.
Full FLVS curriculum with 19 AP courses, College Board Level I approved (school code: 000114), and dual enrollment through Arizona State University (ASU) and University of South Florida – the only dual enrollment partners we work with.
Interactive and engaging live online classes, maximum 15 learners per class, 1:15 teacher-to-student ratio. Structured school day, real teacher interaction. Classes are compatible with Gulf Standard Time. No commute, no campus logistics.
Individual lessons, fully customizable curriculum and timetable. For learners who need intensive support, specialized pacing, or schedules that don’t fit a group format.
No fixed school year, no synchronized schedule. Qualified teachers grade work and give written feedback. The timeline belongs to the learner. For families with frequent travel, relocation between countries, or non-standard routines.
Three genuinely different models, because one learning experience doesn’t fit every family.
Virtual clubs and extracurricular activities are included in every enrollment plan, giving every student access to school life beyond the academic schedule.
Learners who complete our high school program receive a fully accredited US high school diploma from a WASC-accredited institution. Accepted for university admissions, employment, and military enlistment globally. Not a GED equivalent.
WASC accreditation is what makes the diploma travel. Abu Dhabi campus schools may hold ADEK approval, Cognia, or regional UK accreditation – each carries different recognition in different contexts. For families applying to US universities or moving between countries, WASC is the stronger foundation.
Recent Legacy graduates have enrolled at Penn State, the University of New Haven ($30K merit scholarship), Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University ($5K scholarship), and the University of Maryland. See the full university acceptance list →
Three graduation tracks: Standard Diploma (18 credits), Honors Diploma (24 credits), Accelerated Diploma (18 credits).
No enrollment window. No ADEK license required for expat independent enrollment, since registration with the Ministry of Education is not required when enrolling directly in an international accredited online school. No previous school documentation needed to start – transcripts help with placement and can follow registration.

A: Website, application, academic records. That’s it. No fixed intake, no September deadline, no district office. Transcripts that aren’t ready can follow after registration – they’re used for placement, not as a gate. Account ready within 48 hours. A free trial lesson is also available.
A: WASC – Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Same accreditor as established US private schools. Independently verifiable. What it means practically: credits transfer when a student moves schools, universities recognize the diploma without questions, and the credential holds up outside the UAE. ADEK approval covers campus operations in Abu Dhabi. WASC covers academic quality internationally. Different purposes, different reach.
A: Homeschooling in the UAE puts the parent in the teacher’s seat. Curriculum selection, instruction, record-keeping – all of it. Legacy is a different arrangement entirely. Qualified teachers run the classes. The school issues transcripts. The diploma is institutional. A child studying at home through Legacy is enrolled in a private accredited school – not homeschooled, even if the kitchen table looks the same.
A: US curriculum. K through Grade 12, built on Florida Virtual School (FLVS). Not IGCSE. Not A-Levels. Not IB. The diploma is a WASC-accredited American high school credential – accepted by universities, employers, and military institutions globally.
A: 15 children per Live Group class. That’s the number. Not 25, not 30 – 15. Teachers know who’s present and who’s drifting. Written feedback goes on individual work, not a shared rubric. Self-Paced courses include interactive assignments rather than passive video. Progress tools give parents visibility without waiting for a report card. And when a student needs more targeted help – tutoring at $25/hour, any plan.
A: Onboarding when you enroll. Regular teacher check-ins after that. Progress tracking from day one. The harder truth: transition difficulty depends almost entirely on the student, not the school. Live Group suits those who need daily structure and external accountability. One-on-One is for learners who need the adjustment managed individually, at their own pace. Self-Paced is challenging for enrollees who’ve never had to manage their own schedule – worth knowing before choosing that plan.
A: Different frameworks, different credentials. Abu Dhabi’s British schools issue Cambridge IGCSE and A-Level qualifications. IB schools issue the International Baccalaureate. Legacy issues a WASC-accredited US high school diploma – the same category as any accredited American private school. All three are accepted by universities internationally, but they carry different weight in different contexts. For US university admissions specifically, a WASC-accredited transcript with strong AP scores is often the strongest foundation. For UK university admissions, A-Levels or IB may carry more weight. The right credential depends on where your child is heading.
A: Abu Dhabi international schools: AED 20,000–90,000+ per year. Legacy full-time program: from $2,500/year. Elementary Self-Paced: from $670/semester. No campus fees, no transport, no facility charges embedded in the price. The schools aren’t the same product – campus schools offer things Legacy doesn’t, and Legacy offers things campus schools can’t. But for families where the physical building isn’t the point, the gap is hard to ignore.
