The high school transcript is the document that either opens or closes doors. What’s on it – which courses, which grades, which AP scores – shapes where a student can apply, what scholarships are available, and how seriously a college admissions office takes the application.

Legacy Online School runs an accredited online high school program for students in grades 9–12. WASC-accredited. College Board Level I approved, school code: 000114. 19 Advanced Placement courses. Three learning plans. A diploma recognized by colleges, employers, and military institutions globally.

Accreditation: Why It Matters

Not all online high school diplomas are equal. Accreditation is what determines whether a diploma is worth anything outside the school that issued it.

Legacy holds WASC accreditation – the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, the same regional accrediting body that evaluates established US private schools. WASC-accredited schools are recognized by universities, transfer programs, and employers. Credits are transferable to other accredited institutions.

Some online high school programs are not regionally accredited. Others hold Cognia accreditation, which is recognized domestically but carries less weight internationally. WASC accreditation travels further – relevant for families based outside the US, or learners applying to universities beyond their home country.

Legacy is an internationally accredited program that coexists with local schooling. Families are responsible for ensuring compliance with any local education requirements applicable to their situation.

AP Courses: 19 Available

Through our College Board affiliation (school code: 000114), 19 AP (Advanced Placement) courses are available to learners enrolled in a full program:

Art History, Biology, Calculus AB and BC, Computer Science A and Principles, English Language and Composition, English Literature and Composition, Environmental Science, Human Geography, Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Physics 1, Precalculus, Psychology, Spanish Language and Culture, Statistics, United States Government and Politics, United States History.

These courses are not available as standalone add-ons – only to students on full programs. Strong AP scores mean college credits before graduation. That’s real leverage in college admissions and real financial savings on tuition.

Dual enrollment through Arizona State University (ASU) and University of South Florida is also available – the only dual enrollment partners we work with.

Diploma Programs

Our school offers three graduation tracks:

  • Standard Diploma – 18 credits required to complete, designed for university-bound learners. Minimum 2.0 GPA.
  • Honors Diploma – 24 credits, for children targeting competitive universities or scholarships.
  • Accelerated Diploma – 18 credits, for pupils targeting faster graduation or career pathways.

All three tracks lead to a fully accredited high school diploma from a WASC-approved institution. Courses are designed to meet College Board standards – the same framework used by accredited US private institutions. Accepted for college admissions, trade school applications, and military enlistment. Not a shortcut. The same category of credential as any other accredited private high school diploma, earned through an online program.

Recent Legacy graduates have enrolled at Penn State, the University of New Haven ($30K merit scholarship), Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University ($5K scholarship), and the University of Maryland. See the full university acceptance list →

Three Learning Plans

  • Live Group Learning – live online school classes, max 15 learners per class, 1:15 teacher ratio. Daily instruction Monday through Friday. Structured like a school day, without the commute or fixed location. For learners who need regular teacher contact and peer interaction.
  • One-on-One Learning – individual lessons and customizable online curriculum to fit your schedule. For children with intensive academic needs, significant scheduling constraints, or those preparing for college or career in a specialized area.
  • Self-Paced Learning – no fixed academic year, no synchronized schedule. Teachers grade coursework and give written feedback. The pace belongs to the learner. For children who need genuine flexibility – athletes, performers, those managing other significant commitments alongside school.

Virtual clubs and extracurricular activities are included in every plan. Tutoring is available at $25/hour.

FAQ

Q: What makes Legacy an accredited online high school in the UAE?

A: WASC accreditation – not Cognia. That distinction matters for UAE families specifically. WASC is the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, the same regional standard used by established US private educational institutions. It’s recognized internationally, which means the diploma travels when your family does. Cognia is primarily a domestic US accrediting commission. For students applying to universities outside the US, the difference is worth understanding before you enroll.

Q: How do I enroll in Legacy’s online high school program?

A: Complete the enrollment application on our website. Submit previous academic records for grade placement. No fixed intake window – rolling enrollment means your child can start at any point in the year. The admissions team handles placement and plan selection. No eligibility requirements beyond current grade level – students of all academic backgrounds can apply. Account ready within 48 hours of completing the process.

Q: What high school programs does Legacy offer?

A: Three diploma tracks: Standard (18 credits, university-bound), Honors (24 credits, competitive universities and scholarships), and Accelerated (18 credits, faster graduation or career pathways). All three lead to a WASC-accredited private school diploma – accepted for college admissions, trade school, and military enlistment. Not a GED equivalent. 19 AP courses available to full-program enrollees. Dual enrollment through Arizona State University (ASU) also available – the only dual enrollment partner we work with.

Q: Are courses taught by qualified teachers?

A: Yes. Live instruction, not just pre-recorded content. Qualified teachers give personalized feedback on individual assignments, run real-time classes, and are accessible when a student is stuck. In Live Group, the maximum is 15 children per class – teachers know their students, not just their grades. In Self-Paced, every submission gets reviewed by a qualified teacher, not an automated system.

Q: Will colleges accept a diploma from Legacy?

A: Yes, when the diploma comes from a WASC-accredited institution – which Legacy is. Recent graduates have enrolled at Penn State, University of New Haven ($30K merit scholarship), Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University ($5K scholarship), and the University of Maryland. The format is online. The credential is standard accredited private school diploma.

Q: How does the online learning environment support student success?

A: Small classes, direct teacher access, and a structure that actually builds independence. Live Group caps at 15 learners – a teacher can see who’s engaged and who’s falling behind. Self-Paced develops the self-discipline that university later demands. Tutoring at $25/hour is available across all plans when targeted support is needed. Virtual clubs come with every enrollment. Progress tracking tools are accessible to both children and their parents.

Q: What is the difference between online school and traditional in-person high school?

A: Delivery, mainly. The academic standards, qualified teachers, and accreditation are the same. What changes: no fixed location, no rigid bell schedule, and no geographic restriction. Self-Paced gives learners genuine timeline control – not just flexibility within a fixed calendar. For UAE families specifically, the ability to maintain academic continuity across relocations without switching schools is what makes the online format worth considering seriously.

Q: What is the difference between self-paced and structured programs?

A: Self-Paced: no fixed school year, no synchronized schedule. The learner sets the pace. Teachers grade and give feedback on their timeline. For students who need more freedom to learn on their own terms. Live Group: scheduled live classes, five days a week, maximum 15 kids. Deadlines, teacher contact, peer interaction. For those who need external structure and regular accountability. One-on-One sits between them – individual curriculum and schedule, but with consistent direct teacher involvement built in.

Q: Does Legacy also serve middle school students?

A: Yes. The program runs K–12. Middle school covers grades 6–8 with the same WASC accreditation, FLVS curriculum framework, and qualified teachers. Students who complete middle school at Legacy move into high school without switching schools – continuous transcript, same institution, no administrative gap. That continuity matters when applying to universities that look at the full four-year high school record.

Q: How does Legacy prepare students for university and beyond?

A: AP courses that can translate into college credits before graduation. Dual enrollment through ASU for students who want to go further. College counseling support for those targeting competitive admissions. And four years of managing your own schedule in an online environment – which produces something traditional school rarely does: a student who actually knows how to work without someone standing over them. That skill matters in university more than most high schoolers expect.
