GPA, Transcripts & SAT — Parent Guide by Legacy Online School

Legacy Online School is a WASC-accredited US high school (College Board CEEB Code 000114) supporting families in the UAE, MENA and worldwide with credit-bearing courses, official transcripts, GPA reporting, SAT/AP planning and college guidance.

Overview — GPA, transcripts & college readiness

GPA (Grade Point Average) is a numerical summary of academic performance. Legacy transcripts list completed courses, grades, credits attempted, credits earned and cumulative GPA. Colleges, scholarships and transfer schools often review GPA for admissions or placement, and universities may recalculate GPA using their own rules — especially for Honors, AP, dual enrollment or international applications.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is GPA calculated at Legacy?

Legacy uses the standard US GPA scale: A = 4.0, B = 3.0, C = 2.0, D = 1.0, F = 0.0. Weighted scale: Honors A = 4.5, AP A = 5.0. Course grades: 50% summative, 30% formative, 20% final exam. Minimum 2.0 GPA required for standard Florida diploma.

Do you help with SAT, ACT or AP prep?

Yes. SAT/ACT private tutoring is $49/hour (1–20 hour packages, up to $980). Group prep course $299 per student (10×90 min sessions). AP courses: AP Biology, AP Calculus AB & BC, AP Chemistry, AP Computer Science, AP Psychology, AP US Government, AP US History, AP Physics. Separate e-text fee per AP (~$20–$56).

Is the SAT required to graduate?

No. The SAT is not a Legacy graduation requirement. It is used for college admissions when specific colleges request it, and does not affect GPA.

Is the diploma accepted by UAE and global universities?

Legacy issues a WASC-accredited US High School Diploma, recognised by universities across the US and internationally, and listed with College Board (CEEB Code 000114). Legacy is not KHDA-approved, so UAE families should confirm acceptance with their specific UAE university before enrolment.

Does Legacy issue official transcripts?

Yes. Official transcripts reflect completed courses, grades, credits and GPA, and can be sent to colleges or other schools on request. SAT scores are sent separately through College Board.

What happens after Grade 12?

Students who meet graduation requirements (22–24 credits, minimum 2.0 GPA) receive an official Legacy transcript and WASC-accredited US High School Diploma. College guidance packages available from $590 (Lite Review) to $5,990 (Elite).

Is Legacy suitable for medicine, pharmacy or nursing pathways?

Yes — with the right AP science selection (AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Physics). Students should maintain a high GPA and confirm entry requirements with target universities.

What’s the difference between weighted and unweighted GPA?

Unweighted GPA uses a flat 4.0 scale regardless of course difficulty. Weighted GPA rewards advanced coursework: Honors +0.5 (A = 4.5), AP / Dual Enrollment +1.0 (A = 5.0). Both may appear on transcripts.

What do the grade codes P, IN and W mean?

P (Pass, 60–100%) — credit earned but not included in GPA. IN (Incomplete) — no credit until coursework is completed. W (Withdrawn) — no credit, not included in GPA.

Will universities recalculate my child’s GPA?

Often, yes — especially for Honors, AP, dual enrollment, repeated courses or international applications. A strong transcript with appropriate course rigor matters most.

Are SAT scores shown on the Legacy transcript?

No — College Board recommends schools do not place SAT scores on transcripts. Students send SAT scores directly to colleges through College Board.

Can my child get SAT accommodations?

Yes, if eligible. Accommodations (extended time, breaks, assistive technology) are approved by College Board through the Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) process. Legacy’s LSS team helps organise supporting academic records.

What documentation does Legacy provide for university applications?

Official transcripts (courses, grades, credits, GPA), the WASC-accredited US High School Diploma, course descriptions on request, enrolment and graduation verification letters, and accreditation verification.
